During the Brazil Main Street meeting Monday, members discussed an upcoming holiday contest.
Deck the Streets of Brazil is a contest where area businesses will decorate their windows for the holidays. Participants will have posters, donated by Justin Haulk and A+ Printing, in their windows and cans inside to collect votes.
Community members are encouraged to vote for their favorite storefront window by casting a vote inside the business.
Voting will take place from Nov. 12-23, ending at 5 p.m.
The winning business will be announced at the Christmas In The Park parade on Nov. 23. The winner will receive a trophy to display in their window.
Members decided who would pick up and count all the votes. They also discussed having a photo gallery on The Brazil Times' website to display photos of each business' window.
Also, Brazil Main Street members plan to pick up the flowerpots along National Avenue sometime after the Christmas in the Park parade.
Finally, the members discussed a few ideas for 2013 including painting a mural on the Search and Rescue building next spring.
Members agreed they wanted to continue this year's projects, as well as plan a beautification project for the State Road 340 and Highway 40 split. Better marketing and more downtown movies were also mentioned.
"I think we've had a successful year," President Lee Lewis said. "Everything we've wanted to get done, we did. But we're forward thinking."
Brazil Main Street's next meeting will be Jan. 14, at 6 p.m., in the Brazil Public Library.
