The Clay County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Dec. 3, in the lower level of the museum.
The guest speaker will be Jim Albright, author of the book, "Last Guard Out."
Albright spent 26 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
He worked on the island of Alcatraz for four years, then transferred to Illinois, Virginia, Indiana, Michigan and back to Terre Haute, where he retired in 1985.
He started working at Alcatraz in 1959 with no prior law enforcement experience and made his career of 26 years in the prison system.
The Dec. 3 program will focus on the time he spent at Alcatraz.
The public is welcome to attend the program.
Albright will also speak at the November Clay County Chamber of Commerce luncheon Tuesday, Nov. 27, at noon.
The luncheon will take place at the Renaissance Reception and Conference Center, Brazil.
The Dec. 3 meeting is also the annual meeting of the election of officers and board members. In addition, a date will be set for the closing of the museum for the winter months.
The Historical Society will be closed through the middle of March, but the next membership meeting will be March 4, 2013.
