INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana National Guard military police soldiers with Task Force Guardian are scheduled to return from Afghanistan at approximately 12:45 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, to Building 9, Stout Field, located at 2002 S. Holt Rd., Indianapolis.
The unit, led by Lt. Christopher Ford and Master Sgt. Wayne Kannaple, is a combined task force of soldiers from the 381st Military Police Company headquartered in Plymouth, Ind., and the 387th Military Police Company in New Albany, Ind.
Approximately 170 soldiers deployed as a Police Combined Action Team to Bagram Province, Afghanistan on Jan. 4, 2012.
Due to force reductions in Afghanistan and attrition, approximately 60 soldiers returned before their scheduled end of tour. Approximately 110 soldiers will be coming home from demobilization at Fort Bliss, Texas.
The task force soldiers were responsible for area security and partnered with Afghan National Police while overseas.
Spc. Arronn D. Fields, Knightsville, Ind., was killed May 21, 2012, during an attack on his vehicle while conducting a mounted combat patrol. Four other soldiers were wounded in the attack.
