Eels fall short in loss to Cadets

CLAY CITY -- Clay City went toe-to-toe for a half with unbeaten Cascade on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately came out on the short end of a 60-44 decision in girl's hoops.

The Eels outscored Cascade 21-15 in the first quarter as Clay City trailed by just two points at the midway point of the game.

The Cadets however got 23 points from Brandyce Sallee and 15 from Roxanna Gaddis in pulling away to the victory. The defense was pivotal as well, holding Clay City to just six points in each of the final two periods.

For the Eels, junior Alex Wolfe posted 18 points and 11 rebounds with Alisha Steward adding 12 points for Clay City. Kylee Truax scored seven and the Eels got six points from senior Callie Dayhuff.

The Eels are 2-5 overall and travel to Linton on Thursday evening.
