Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Terre Haute) was appointed to serve as a member on the following committees: Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Utilities and Energy.
"The committees are focused on getting into the weeds on every related issue that affects Hoosiers and truly serve as the workhorses for the institution," Morrison said. "I'm eager to address and resolve the issues before the committees that I have been appointed to, so we can continue to make a positive difference for Indiana."
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process.
Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
"I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles," Bosma said. "We are preparing a new generation of legislative leadership in Indiana, armed to deal with today's critical problems.
"Our constituents expect us to work together and I assure Hoosiers that we will."
