Katherine Elizabeth Davis passed away Dec. 6, 2012, in Boulder, Colo. Katherine was born March 6, 1919, in Brazil, Ind. She was the youngest of five children of Maud and George Davis. She was a surprise gift to her parents who doted on her. Her father was an apple grower, and Davis Orchards was known throughout the county. Her mother was a marvelous cook and seamstress and delighted in making dresses for her beautiful daughter.

Katherine graduated from Staunton High School and married William Berry of Berkowitz Leather Goods in Terre Haute. They had one child, Carolyn Sue Berry. They divorced, and Katherine became a working mom employed at Kroger Co. and Columbia Records. She moved to the Chicago area where she was employed by Chubb Insurance.

Upon retirement, she moved to Boulder, Colo., to be near her daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Maynard. She was a beautiful singer and seamstress who enjoyed entertaining her family, music, reading, movies, good food and sitting by the fire. She loved Jesus, her family and friends and First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Maynard Kline, Boulder, her grandson Mark Story and wife Jeanne, Mesa, Ariz., her niece and husband Dolores and Roy Pierson, Arkansas, nephew Ralph Tiefel, Wisconsin, niece and husband Sandra and Glen Stover, Iowa and her dear friend Cindy Cartwright. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Earl Davis, Bert Davis, Delmar Davis and Helen Davis Tiefel-Garrigus and her former husband, William Berry. She will be forever missed by her beloved daughter and family. We offer special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Boulder Medical Center and the dedicated caregivers at Boulder Manor.

Services will take place in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th Street, Boulder, Colo., on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m., with private burial on Monday, Dec. 10, at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield County, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Suite A, Lafayette, Colo., 80026, or to First Presbyterian Church of Boulder. You may add a message to the guest book at www.darrellhowemortuary.com.
