The Staunton Community Center will welcome a very special guest as Santa Claus arrives to visit between the hours of 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9.

He will be passing out free treats for children and free cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be available for everyone.

Bring your youngsters and your camera and join in the fun.

The North Clay Cluster of United Methodist Churches are happy to present, "The True Christmas Story" -- live, Sunday, Dec. 16, from 3-5 p.m., outdoors at Epworth United Methodist Church on East National Avenue, Brazil.

Admission is free and everyone is invited to stop by and enjoy this inspirational presentation.

Staunton First Christian Church News

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m., with worship service following at 10:30.

Doug Parkey is the minister.

Children's Church and Wee Worship meet at 10:30 a.m., in the Educational Building.

If you need transportation to morning worship service, please phone the church office at 446-3211.

Youth Groups meet at 5:45 p.m., and Sunday evening service begins at 6.

Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Group meet at 7.

The Elders will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, followed by the regular meeting of the church board at 7.

The Christian Fellowship Club will meet for lunch at Pizza Hut in Brazil at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12.

We will be holding 24 hours of prayer from 6 p.m., Dec. 14, to 6 p.m., Dec. 15. Please sign up for a prayer time on the bulletin board in the foyer.

Other December events coming up:

* Children's Christmas Program Dec. 16, during morning worship hour,

* Christmas Caroling right after church Dec. 16. Finger foods will be served before departure,

* Adult mini-Christmas Cantata Dec. 23, during morning worship service, and

* Christmas Eve service Dec. 24, at 8 p.m.

Staunton United Methodist Church News

Sunday worship service begins at approximately 10:45 a.m. Our pastor is Scott Aselage.

Our annual Christmas party will be Sunday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Remember the Community Food Pantry is open in the church basement from 3-5 p.m., on the last Wednesday of each month.

This month's food pantry day will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, rather than the day after Christmas.

Anyone in the Staunton area in need of help is welcome.

We truly appreciate the continuing support of our friends at Staunton Christian Church, as well as all the churches, schools, civic organizations and individuals who help make this needed outreach a success.

Please keep praying for everyone who is battling illness, as well as all the brave men and women of our military and their families.

Also remember in prayer all the folks in nursing homes and hospitals, and those who have lost loved ones.

Go out of your way to be kind to someone and pray for everyone.
