The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Trash Reminder

The Brazil City Garage recently announced it is asking all residents to place their trash out before noon, Monday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve).

In addition, officials stated after Christmas, trash pickup will run one day behind normal schedule.

Regular pickup will take place Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve), but trash pickup will run one day behind normal schedule Jan. 1-4.

Harmony Meeting Notice

The last meeting of the month for the Harmony Town Council will take place Friday, Dec. 28, at the conclusion of the annual Christmas dinner for council and board members.

There will be no meeting in January 2013.

The first meeting for 2013 will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the community center.

Meeting Scheduled

The Clay County Humane Society will conduct its monthly board meeting Monday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m.

A members meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

The meetings will take place at the Presbyterian Church Library.

Meeting Notice

The Knights of Columbus' next meeting will take place at 7:15 p.m., Dec. 10, for Rosary. A meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., at the Kennedy Crossing Bingo Center.

Those attending are asked to bring canned goods.

Park Board To Meet

The Brazil Parks and Recreation Board will conduct its monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Meeting Set

The annual meeting of the Posey Township Clay County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., will take place Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., at the firehouse in Staunton.

The agenda will include the election of two membership directors and any other business a may properly come before the meeting.

Board Of Works To Meet

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

City Council To Meet

The Brazil Common Council will conduct its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

Housing Authority Meeting

The Brazil Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will conduct its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, at the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Pet Photos With Santa

Four Loving Paws Veterinary Services, 965 W. Craig Ave., Brazil, will offer a Christmas event for pets Dec. 15.

The event, Pet Pictures With Santa, will take place from 5-8 p.m., at the event.

Cost for a photograph of a pet with Santa Claus will be $10. Those purchasing a photograph will receive a printed picture of their choice and a CD with all the photographs taken.

Special Meeting

The Clay County Council will conduct a special meeting Friday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m., in the Commissioner's Courtroom, located in the Clay County Courthouse, 609 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The purpose of the meeting is for a second reading of Ordinance No. 22-2012.

Food Giveaway

The Church of Our Lord Jesus will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, Dec. 29, from 1-3 p.m.

The event will take place at the church, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil.

Career Fair

The United States Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons will host a Veterans Career Fair Jan. 28, 2013, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at FCC Terre Haute, 4700 Bureau Rd., S. Terre Haute, 47802, just behind Honey Creek Mall.

Recruiters and members of the Affirmative Action Committee will be available to assist with the application process and to answer questions about benefits and qualifications.
