The first Northview High School "Coaches Vs. Cancer" basketball game has been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14, when the Knights face Western Indiana Conference foe Edgewood, in a varsity boy-girl doubleheader.

All proceeds from the contest will go to Relay For Life of Clay County.

Relay For Life of Clay County representatives are currently selling T-shirts as the fundraiser for the event.

The T-shirts are purple, which represents all types of cancer.

The plan is to honor all cancer survivors during halftime of both games.

The T-shirts must be ordered by Wednesday, Dec. 12. Cost for the T-shirts is $10 each.

Orders may be placed by calling 446-2661 Ext. 1210 or by stopping by the school's main office.

Those who are unable to purchase a T-shirt but plan on attending the twinbill are encouraged to wear something purple to represent the cause.

Both Northview teams and coaches will be wearing purple socks.

Relay For Life representatives plan to make it an annual event.

According to information provided to The Brazil Times, "Coaches Vs. Cancer" games have gone national and are hosted by high schools and many colleges throughout the country.
