The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Trash Reminder

The Brazil City Garage recently announced it is asking all residents to place their trash out before noon, Monday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve).

In addition, officials stated after Christmas, trash pickup will run one day behind normal schedule.

Regular pickup will take place Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve), but trash pickup will run one day behind normal schedule Jan. 1-4.

Harmony Meeting Notice

The last meeting of the month for the Harmony Town Council will take place Friday, Dec. 28, at the conclusion of the annual Christmas dinner for council and board members.

There will be no meeting in January 2013.

The first meeting for 2013 will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the community center.

Board Of Works To Meet

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Housing Authority Meeting

The Brazil Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will conduct its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, at the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Open House

Brazil residents Dave and Sheryl Snow recently informed The Brazil Times that the refurbishing of the Dick Johnson Community House is almost completed.

In fact, an open house has been scheduled for the public.

The event will take place from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16.

Sheryl told The Times Santa Claus will be at the event to visit with children. In addition, Christmas trees will be available for purchase.

Club Meeting

The Clay County Republican Club will conduct its monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Kennedy's Crossing Bingo Center on Kennedy Crossing Road, across from the Northview High School tennis courts.

Newly elected offices Ted Paris (President), Karen Burk (Vice President) and Lori Brown (Secretary/Treasurer) will be sworn in as officers for the 2013-14 term.

Members are asked to bring Christmas cookies to share.

The public is invited to come and help celebrate the new officers.

Support Group Meeting

The local support group for anyone who has lost a child will meet Tuesday, Dec. 18.

There will be a pitch-in dinner at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place from 7-8:30 p.m.

Those interested are encouraged to bring a photograph of their loved one to share with the group.

The group holds its meetings at Grace Chapel Church, 2104 W. United States 40, Brazil.

Food Giveaway

The Church of Our Lord Jesus will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, Dec. 29, from 1-3 p.m.

The event will take place at the church, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil.

Clay County Day!

Clay County Day in Bradenton, Fla., will take place Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

The 34th reunion and luncheon will take place at PIER 22 Ballroom, formerly the Mattison's Riverside Ballroom.

Letters will be mailed to past attendees.

Due to the increase in postage, letters will not be sent to those who have not attended the past three years.
