The Northview High School Fine Arts Department presented its 2012 Christmas Spectacular finale Sunday at the high school.

According to Fine Arts Department Head Bob Medworth, the three-day event went quite well this year.

"It was fantastic," Medworth said. "We had huge crowds, good crowds. I think this was one of our better shows.

"People were saying this is the official start of their Christmas season."

Performances took place Dec. 13, Dec. 15, and Sunday.

The Dec. 15, performance included a special holiday dinner with featured entertainment.

According to Medworth, the annual event began in 1989 as a one-night production.

Throughout the years, however, it has grown to a three-night, variety show.

The event included performances from the Northview Choir, Symphonic Choir, The Knight Singers, dancers, the Northview band and the Northview percussion department.

All groups performed classic holiday hits as well as other traditional Christmas music.

Medworth said this year's event featured close to sold-out performances each night.

It was a great show. First time attendee and very impressed. The people of Clay County should be proud of the fine music and arts department their tax dollars support. Wonderful.
