Helen Rentschler is turning 103 on Christmas Day this year. The Cloverleaf Healthcare resident spent Thursday celebrating with her sister Dorothy Hofmann and friends while eating red velvet birthday cake.
Rentschler's niece Rita and husband Carver Rose came for the party and the two plan to celebrate with Rentschler at their home on Christmas day surrounded by family.
Rentschler spent many years as a doctor's assistant for her husband in Clay City, where she used to live. She taught Sunday school for many years and is a devoted Christian.
"She always has a positive attitude," Rita said of her aunt.
Rentschler lived alone until she was 97-years-old. She has lived at Cloverleaf for approximately five years.
