According to officials with the Brazil Police Department, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, investigators served a search warrant at 1002 N. McGuire St., for the suspected manufacturing of methamphetamine.
During the search of the property, two "one pot" methamphetamine laboratories, methamphetamine precursors, methamphetamine and a stolen handgun were discovered.
All five were preliminarily charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine (a class A felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (a class C felony), Possession of Precursors (a class D felony) and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (a class D felony).
"We received a complaint of the possibility of that (home) being a (methamphetamine) lab," Brazil Police Chief Clint McQueen said. "We followed up the complaint and were able to obtain a search warrant."
All five are currently being held at the Clay County Justice Center on $50,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed.
Also assisting at the scene was the Indiana State Police Clandestine Team. The team helped with the investigation in addition to the collection of evidence and disposal of the methamphetamine laboratories and hazardous materials.
