CLAY COUNTY -- A 9-year-old male juvenile was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle.
According to information provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 3:01 p.m., officials responded to a single-vehicle/pedestrian accident at County Road 200 East, approximately one-half mile south of CR 800 N.
Officials stated Nancy B. Knox, 73, Center Point, was traveling north of CR 200 E., in her 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan when the 9-year-old, who was getting mail out of the mailbox, allegedly stepped out into the roadway in front of the vehicle Knox was driving.
Knox did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident.
The juvenile was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital via TransCare ambulance.
At press time, the extent of the juvenile's injuries was unknown.
However, it was believed the injuries were not life threatening.
Officials stated drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the accident.
Also assisting were members of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department.
