The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Center Point Meetings

The Center Point Town Council recently announced it had designated the first Tuesday of each month as the meeting days for the common council.

Meetings will take place at 7 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month, at Center Point Town Hall, 306 E. Main St., Center Point.

Knightsville Meetings

The following is a list of scheduled 2013 meetings for the Knightsville Town Council:

* The council's first meeting of the new year is Feb. 12. Other meetings are scheduled for March 12, April 9, Mary 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12, and Dec. 10.

The council meets at the Knightsville Community Center and meetings are open to the public and begin at 7 p.m.

The council will also conduct a special end-of-year meeting to take care of any unfinished business and to close the books on Dec. 26, 2013, at the Knightsville Community Center. All invoices should be submitted to the town clerk-treasurer for payment one week prior to the meeting.

Popcorn Meetings

The Popcorn Festival of Clay County will begin meeting this year Monday, Jan. 14.

All meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at Brazil City Hall. Meetings begin at 6 p.m.

Food Pantry Information

Catholic Charities will continue bringing the mobile food pantry to the Bowling Green Community Building in 2013.

The food pantry will take place the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.

The January date for the food pantry is Jan. 8.

No requirements are necessary, other than those who are in need of additional food.

Ice Fishing Contest

Jack's Live Bait and Tackle will host its first 2013 Ice Fishing Contest.

The contest will begin Friday, weather permitting.

Those taking part are asked to bring their largest crappie or blue gill to the place of business.

The winner will receive a prize.

Trash Notice

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, officials with the Brazil City Garage have issued a reminder that trash pickup will run one day behind schedule that week.

Meeting Change

The Clay County Humane Shelter Board will now conduct meetings at Brazil City Hall.

Regular board meetings will be from 6-7 p.m., with membership meetings from 7-8 p.m., each month, during the third Monday, beginning in January.

Park Board To Meet

A regular meeting of the Brazil Parks and Recreation Board will take place at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Board Of Works To Meet

A regular meeting of the Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Support Meeting

There will be a sight loss/Peer support meeting Wednesday, Jan. 9, at First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Meridian St., Brazil.

The meeting time is 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The WILL Center, sponsor of the meeting, is a non-profit, non-residential Independent Living Center in Terre Haute that helps people with all types of disabilities with free programs and services.

City Council To Meet

A regular meeting of the Brazil Common Council will take place Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Meeting Scheduled

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will conduct its monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 10, at 8:30 a.m., at the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Clay County Day!

Clay County Day in Bradenton, Fla., will take place Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

The 34th reunion and luncheon will take place at PIER 22 Ballroom, formerly the Mattison's Riverside Ballroom.

Letters will be mailed to past attendees.

Due to the increase in postage, letters will not be sent to those who have not attended the past three years.

Community Dinner

The Lady Volunteers of Stanton will host a community dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, Jan. 18, from 4-7 p.m.

The meal will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dinner rolls, dessert, coffee, tea and lemonade.

Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-8 under.
