TERRE HAUTE -- Freshman civil engineering students at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology are seeking design projects to complete during the spring academic quarter.
Traditionally, the projects are sponsored by local citizens and community groups.
As freshmen, the students have limited engineering skills, but they always show a lot of enthusiasm and creativity and provide a genuine service to the community.
Civil engineering professors John Aidoo and Jenny Mueller Price are expecting to have 12 different projects for teams to work on this spring.
Typical projects include parking lot layouts, solutions for drainage and traffic problems, simple waste treatment problems, floor plans for small buildings and designs for athletic fields, playgrounds and park projects.
Each project is completed by the students in nine weeks.
The spring quarter begins March 4.
Those interested in offering a project for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology civil engineering design program are asked to call Aidoo at 812-877-8594 or send an e-mail to email@example.com describing the project by Feb. 18.
