Ice Fishing Contest
Jack's Live Bait and Tackle will host its first 2013 Ice Fishing Contest.
The contest will begin Friday, weather permitting.
Those taking part are asked to bring their largest crappie or blue gill to the place of business.
The winner will receive a prize.

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, officials with the Brazil City Garage have issued a reminder that trash pickup will run one day behind schedule that week.

The Harmony Town Council recently announced it has designated the first Tuesday of each month for its meetings.
Meetings will take place at 7 p.m., at the Harmony Community Center and are open to the public.
The Clay County Humane Shelter Board will now conduct meetings at Brazil City Hall.
Regular board meetings will be from 6-7 p.m., with membership meetings from 7-8 p.m., each month, during the third Monday, beginning in January.
The Wabash Valley Audubon Society will host an event Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10:30 a.m., at the John G. Dobbs Memorial Grove Nature Center, 5170 E. Poplar St., Terre Haute.
Those attending the event will learn about Indiana's best nocturnal hunters, the owl.
For a fee of 50 cents, those present will be able to make an owl pin to wear after the presentation.

Time For Music!
The Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil, will host a country music night Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.
Food will be served as a fundraiser.
The community is invited to attend the event. Admission is free.
Support Group To Meet
The ALS Support Group will conduct a meeting Jan. 14, from 12:30-2 p.m., at the Wabash Valley Senior Center, 300 S. 5th St., Terre Haute.

Prom Meeting Set
Attention NHS Junior Parents: Help is needed putting together this year's post prom party.
According to officials, a meeting will take place Monday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m., at the high school in room 214 for parents interested in helping.

The Knights of Columbus will conduct Rosary Jan. 14, at 7:15 p.m., followed by a meeting at 7:30.
The group will finalize some new events for 2013.
The Knights are always looking for new members.
All Knights are asked to help out Jan. 12, at 8:30 a.m., for a work day with a free pulled pork barbecue dinner at the church.

Clay County Day!
Clay County Day in Bradenton, Fla., will take place Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.
The 34th reunion and luncheon will take place at PIER 22 Ballroom, formerly the Mattison's Riverside Ballroom.
Letters will be mailed to past attendees.
Due to the increase in postage, letters will not be sent to those who have not attended the past three years.

In 2013, Habitat for Hu__manity of Clay County plans to build a new home with a Clay County family partner.
The home will be located at 703 S. Chicago Ave., Brazil.
All Clay County families who are interested in applying for the next Habitat home must attend the informational meeting, scheduled for Jan. 17, 2013, at 6:30 p.m., at the Linking Education to Adults, Adolescents and Preschoolers (LEAAP) Center.
Applications will only be available at the meeting.
Qualifications and requirements will be discussed.
The partner family will help build the home and pay a 20-year no-interest loan for the home.
The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a community dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, Jan. 18, from 4-7 p.m.
The meal will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dinner rolls, dessert, coffee, tea and lemonade. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-8 under.
All proceeds benefit the community center.
