Helen Louise (Rooksberry) Collenbaugh, 82, Coal City, passed away on Jan. 11, 2013, at Springhill Village Nursing Home with her family by her side.

Helen was born May 13, 1930, in Dugger, the daughter of Elmer and Hallie (Bercaw) Rooksberry. Helen married Wayne Collenbaugh in 1947. She worked as a nursing aide at Macanell Nursing Home. Helen was a member of the Coal City Church of Christ. She was also a teacher at the World Bible School. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, but took the most pride in her grandchildren, where she was a special grandma to them. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son Donald Wayne Collenbaugh, sisters Shirley Rickert, Dorothy Boone and Bernice Baker, and brother Jimmy Rooksberry.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Moore (Kenny), Marlene Walters, Stella Switzer (Rick), and Mary Ray (Dave), son Scott Allen Collenbaugh, grandchildren Beth Greeson (David), Susan Thweatt (Albert), Brandon Walters (Julie), Adam Walters, Kelly Atkinson, Michael Switzer (Sarah), Amy Estep and Mitchell Estep, brother Charles Rooksberry, brothers-in-law Arthur Collenbaugh (Marjorie), and Donald Wells (Maxine), and sister Frances Anderson, as well as several extended family members and friends.

A special thanks goes out to the caring staff at Spring Hill Village Nursing Home, Vista Care Hospice and Dr. Pappas.

Service will be Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 12 p.m., at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with David Graffe officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, from 1-5 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vista Care Hospice, 3401 South 4th St., Terre Haute, Ind., 47802.
