Ethan Whitson scored a season-high 25 points on Friday night, but Northview nearly matched that in turnovers while falling to the visiting Terre Haute South Braves.

South overpowered Northview 68-60 behind the 37-point effort of Jeffrey Turner.

Northview, now 5-6, will host Mooresville tonight with the freshman game starting at 5 p.m., followed by the JV contest and the varsity at approximately 8 p.m.

Whitson scored 25 points on 10-13 shooting from the floor and also pulled down six rebounds. The Knights also got 11 points from Christian Ellis.

But Northview turned the ball over 22 times in the game, 14 in the first half, against South's pressure defense.

"I felt like we beat ourselves. We turned the ball over and we didn't do a very good job on (rebounding)," Northview coach Clint Weddle said.

South jumped out to a 9-2 start on the Knights, but the Knights cut the margin to 15-9 at the end of the period on a bucket by Ellis.

Despite turning the ball over eight times in the second quarter, Northview stayed within seven points through the second quarter with solid defense. A three-point play by Whitson left South with a 29-24 halftime advantage.

"I'd like to see us get off to a productive start and not have to come back because that's we've done all year," Weddle said.

Threes by Northview's Craig Peters and Joe Ball cut South's lead to 43-38 going into the fourth quarter. Peters and Ball hit back-to-back threes again to open the quarter and with 7:00 minutes to play the Knights trailed by one, 45-44.

But South put together a 12-3 run, led by Turner, to take a 59-47 lead with four minutes to play. Over the final 1:01 South hit 9-10 free throws to finish the win.

"We keep turning it around but we haven't climbed out of that hole yet," Weddle said.

Northview's JV dropped a 60-50 game to South in overtime. Northview's freshmen won 43-39.
