The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Ice Fishing Contest

Jack's Live Bait and Tackle will host its first 2013 Ice Fishing Contest.

The contest will begin Friday, weather permitting.

Those taking part are asked to bring their largest crappie or blue gill to the place of business.

The winner will receive a prize.

Support Group To Meet

The ALS Support Group will conduct a meeting Jan. 14, from 12:30-2 p.m., at the Wabash Valley Senior Center, 300 S. 5th St., Terre Haute.

Meeting Scheduled

The Knights of Columbus will conduct Rosary Jan. 14, at 7:15 p.m., followed by a meeting at 7:30.

The group will finalize some new events for 2013.

The Knights are always looking for new members.

All Knights are asked to help out Jan. 12, at 8:30 a.m., for a work day with a free pulled pork barbecue dinner at the church.

Democrat Meeting

The Clay County Democrats will conduct their regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m., at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center.

All are invited to attend the meeting.

Meeting Scheduled

The Clay County Redevelopment Commission will conduct its organizational meeting Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m., in the Commissioner's Courtroom, located on the first floor of the Clay County Courthouse.

The regular monthly meeting will follow the organizational meeting.

Meeting Set

Amber Slaughterbeck, Ellen Lunsford and Heather Martin will be the guest speakers at the Wabash Valley Audubon Society monthly meeting Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Vigo County Public Library.

The meeting will conclude at 9 p.m.

All members and non-members are invited to the program, which is free.

Time For Crafts!

All are invited to the Brazil Public Library Thursday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m., to make an icy all-weather plastic baggie wreath. Cost for the craft event is $1. Those interested in attending must be pre-paid and pre-registered by Jan. 15.

Community Dinner

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a community dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, Jan. 18, from 4-7 p.m.

The meal will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dinner rolls, dessert, coffee, tea and lemonade.

Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-8 under.

All proceeds benefit the community center.

Youth Dance

The YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, will conduct a youth dance Friday, Jan. 18.

The dance is open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. The dance will begin at 8 p.m., and end at 10:30. Cost to attend the dance is $5.

The Northview High School band alumni night has been scheduled for Jan. 19.

Chamber Meeting

The monthly Clay County Chamber of Commerce's luncheon will take place Tuesday, Jan. 22, at noon.

The luncheon will take place at the Renaissance, 101 W. National Ave., Brazil.

The guest speaker will be Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham.

Cost to attend is $10 per person, payable at the event.
