The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Story Hour!

Story hour at the Brazil Public Library will resume Jan. 24, for children ages 3-5.

The event is set up by library officials to help get children interested in reading with stories, crafts and songs.

Registration for story hour will begin Jan. 24.

Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Space is limited and children are required to be potty trained.

Parents must also have a valid library card.

No registrations will be accepted by phone.

Ice Fishing Contest

Jack's Live Bait and Tackle will host its first 2013 Ice Fishing Contest.

The contest will begin Friday, weather permitting.

Those taking part are asked to bring their largest crappie or blue gill to the place of business.

The winner will receive a prize.

Trash Notice

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, officials with the Brazil City Garage have issued a reminder that trash pickup will run one day behind schedule that week.

Community Dinner

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a community dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, Jan. 18, from 4-7 p.m.

The meal will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dinner rolls, dessert, coffee, tea and lemonade.

Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-8 under.

All proceeds benefit the community center.

Church Program

The Little Historic Church at Carbon will conduct its monthly program Friday, Jan. 18.

There will be a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m., with the program starting at 7 p.m.

This month, entertainment will be provided by P-150.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Youth Dance

The YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, will conduct a youth dance Friday, Jan. 18.

The dance is open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

The dance will begin at 8 p.m., and end at 10:30.

Cost to attend the dance is $5.

Breakfast!

Bee Ridge Congregational Christian Church will host a sausage and pancake breakfast Saturday, Jan. 19, from 7-10 a.m.

Freewill offerings will be accepted.

The Northview High School band alumni night has been scheduled for Jan. 19.

Republican Club To Meet

The Clay County Republican Club has scheduled its January meeting for Jan. 21, at the Kennedy's Crossing Bingo Center, 8990 N. Kennedy Crossing Rd., Brazil.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

The club also stated its meetings will take place during the third Monday of each month.
