The drum line, made up of 21 students under the direction of Rusty Bottomly, will compete against other Indiana high school drum lines for six weeks throughout February and March.
The theme of the drum line's competition piece is "The Most Amazing Fact," and, according to Bottomly, focuses on the element of carbon and how it can be found in everything in the universe.
"It's what connects all of us," Bottomly said.
The drum line will use music from "The Planets" by Gustave Holst.
Bottomly feels good about the drum line's chances this year.
"We're looking forward to another good season," Bottomly said. "We are the defending Class A champions in Indiana. Hopefully we'll put out a good show again. The students are working hard and are excited to get back on the floor again this year."
