Mamie Lilan Roach, 95, died at 7:45 p.m., Monday at Prairie Village. Born Jan. 18, 1918, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Henry and Margaret Ellen (Howald) Hofmann.
Mamie was a 1936 graduate of Sugar Ridge Township High School. During her life, she was a homemaker. Her greatest joy was watching her great-grandsons and visiting with her great-great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed piecing quilts, doing cross-stitch and working crossword puzzles. After moving into Prairie Village she loved to play bingo and put together puzzles. She is survived by granddaughters Keturah (Tom) Birt, Montgomery, Laquetta Roach, Cannelburg, great-grandsons Aaron (Kelly) Birt, Matthew Birt, and Raygan Roach, great-great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Benjamin Birt, and sister-in-law Alice Hofmann.
Her husband of 50 years, Roy I. Roach, whom she married Jan. 18, 1939, died in 1989.
Her son Hershel Lee Roy Roach died in 1985. Also preceding her in death are her parents and a brother Lee Hofmann.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Sunday at Gill Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Thomas officiating.
