According to WTWO Chief Meteorologist Jesse Walker, there will be small amount of freezing rain and sleet coming into the Wabash Valley on Sunday afternoon. However, temperatures will keep the freezing rain and sleet from causing any significant problems.
"It's not going to be anything major," Walker told The Brazil Times. "We're looking at an ice accumulation of maybe just a tenth of an inch."
Walker said areas north of Interstate-74 like Lafayette may have more problems with ice.
"We will just get a light icing," Walker said. "Things will get better Sunday night."
Walker added that a warm front would be coming through Sunday evening and into Tuesday.
"Temperatures will hit the upper 40s on Monday," Walker said, "and by Tuesday temperatures will be close to 60 degrees."
Unfortunately, these temperature increases will not last long.
"It will be a surge of heat," Walker said. "By Wednesday morning, we'll be back in the 30s, and Thursday and Friday will be even colder."
