Clay City boys top White River Valley in SWIAC action

SWITZ CITY -- A night after dropping a tough conference game to North Daviess, the Eels owned the free throw line in gaining a 63-53 victory on the road against White River Valley.

The Eels withstood a 27-point fourth quarter from the Wolverines after Clay City took a 42-26 lead after three quarters.

Clay City did some work at the free throw line, hitting 24-of-31 at the charity stripe in the victory.

While the Wolverines held the Eels' leading scorer, Blake Cesinger, to just six points. Clay City got a big night from Evan Rogers, who had 17 points, including four 3-pointers. He was joined by a balanced effort from his teammates as Trevor Singer posted 13 points, Easton Booe scored eight and Josh Miller provided seven.

The Eels are now 3-2 in the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference and take a 9-7 overall mark into Friday's trip to Shakamak.
