The Northview girl's basketball team came out on the short end of a 51-36 score on senior night against visiting Plainfield on Tuesday evening.

Before the game, the Knights honored seniors Ashley Hughes, Sierra Girton and Cassie Weddle. Coach Scott Buell noted the contributions that the three players have brought to the program during their time at Northview.

"I am proud of our seniors, they have been through a lot in their four years at NHS, but they have continued to play hard," Buell said. "I am sure they will all be successful adults and we wish them nothing but the best."

The Knights fell behind early to the Quakers, who led 9-4 after the first quarter, but Northview made a run to get within four points late in the half. Plainfield drilled three 3-pointers right before the half to extend the lead to 11 at halftime. Northview stayed within striking distance until the end when forced to foul.

"I was very pleased with our effort, our movement was better, we still just missed some easy shots," Buell said.

Mikayla Rowan had 12 points to lead the offense as Whitney Halfhill, McKenzi Kumpf and Weddle each had six points. Hughes posted four and Girton added two.

The Knights fall to 7-13 overall and travel to Bloomfield this evening to wrap up regular season play.
