NHS Winter Guard set for Saturday

The Northview High School winter guard is prepping for a winter full of competition.

The winter guard, under the direction of NHS teacher Ruth Ann Medworth, is made up of 20 girls. They will be performing to the music "Clare de Lune."

The NHS winter guard's performance dates are as follows:

* Feb. 2: Pike High School,

* Feb. 9: Spin-a-Thon fundraiser,

* Feb. 16: Terre Haute South High School,

* Feb. 17: Chicken noodle dinner and Pops concert,

* Feb. 23-24: Indianapolis WGI Regional at Warren Central,

* March 1-2: Northview High School,

* March 9: IHSCGA State Preliminaries,

* March 16-17: WGI Regional Cincinnati Cintas Center,

* March 23: ISHCGA State Finals at Center Grove, and

* April 11-14: WGI Championships at University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio.

In addition to NHS' winter guard, there is a North Clay Cadet Corps made up of 40 members. They will perform to "Break Out" at the following competitions:

* Feb. 9: Danville High School,

* Feb. 16: Terre Haute High School,

* March 1: Northview High School, and

* March 16: IHSCGA Finals at Mooresville High School.

First performance for guard

The Northview High School Winter Guard opens up its 2013 season Saturday when it will participate in the Indianapolis Pike High School contest.

Northview will compete in World Class. The Knights will perform at approximately 7:27 p.m.

Lawrence Central is the only other school in World Class and will compete at 7:17 p.m.

Awards for World Class are scheduled to begin at 7:37 p.m.
