Organization to conduct contest

TERRE HAUTE -- Vigo Toastmasters will host the sixth Wabash Valley Right to Life Oratory Contest Saturday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m.

An alternate weather date of Feb. 16, was also scheduled.

The contest is open to sophomore, junior and senior high school students.

The contest will take place at Catholic Charities, 1801 Poplar St., Terre Haute.

The Oratory Contest provides contestants the opportunity to organize and express their thoughts and views in a formal public speaking environment and prepare the contestants for future leadership roles.

Winning speaker prizes will be awarded on the day of the contest.

First-place will receive $200, while second-place will earn $150. Third-place will tally $100.

Sophomores are allowed to compete for prize money, but are not eligible to advance to the state and national contests.

The top two juniors and seniors will be eligible to compete in the Indiana Right to Life State Oratory Contest.

The date and location of the Indiana Right to Life State Oratory Contest will be announced at a later date.
