Northview takes second at contest

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Northview High School Winter Guard opened its 2013 season Saturday in a contest at Indianapolis Pike High School.

Competing in World Class, Northview scored a 66.40, good enough for second-place.

Lawrence Central won the competition with a score of 70.80.

Other winners included Greenfield-Central Varsity (Open Class) with a 75.20, Castle High School (A Class) with a 76.72, Memorial Winter Guard (AA Class), Tri-West High School (Regional A Class), Lawrence Central Festival (Festival Class) and Beech Grove Cadet Guard (Cadet Class).

Northview is not scheduled for any Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) competitions this weekend, but the North Clay Middle School Winter Guard will.

North Clay will take part in a contest at Danville.

Competing in Cadet Class, North Clay will take the stage at 4:32 p.m.

Other teams competing in Cadet Class include Avon, Ben Davis, Beech Grove, New Palestine, Carmel, Zionsville, Danville, Center Grove and Warren Central.

North Clay is also scheduled to take part in a contest at Terre Haute South High School Feb. 16, and will compete against Hamilton Southeastern, Owen Valley, Danville and Warren Central.

Performance times were not known at press time.
