Approximately 90 Clay County children will hit the stage Feb. 15-17 for the annual Community Theatre of Clay County's Young Actor's Theatre.

This year, the children will perform "Oz" the musical.

The musical is an adaptation of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," a children's novel written by L. Frank Baum. The book was originally published in 1900.

"The Wizard of Oz," stage play was performed for the first time in 1902 and was also the name of the classic film version, which was released in 1939 and starred Judy Garland.

A tornado carries Dorothy -- portrayed by Julia Bailey -- and her dog Toto, portrayed by Ethan Hill, to the magical land of Oz.

Baum's characters, the Scarecrow (Andrew Corder), Cowardly Lion (Tatum Dyar), and the Tin Woodsman (Alex Swaim), help Dorothy on her journey to meet the Great Oz, portrayed by Meghan Disney, who is supposed to help Dorothy and Toto find a way back to their Kansas farm.

The Wicked Witch is played by Silca Penna and Glenda the Good Witch is portrayed by Anna Corder.

The musical is directed by Elaine Clarke with assistance from Lydia Stallcop. Marilyn Burdsall will provide piano accompaniment.

The Young Actor's performance typically takes place in October. However, it was rescheduled this year due to scheduling conflicts.

The performance of "Oz," will take place Feb. 15-17. Show times are 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17.

Yeah, too bad they sold out of tickets two days ago before all of the parents could buy them, and before they were on sale apparently.
