Food Pantry thanks generous community

Sunday, February 10, 2013

To the Editor:

The Emergency Food Pantry has experienced the busiest month in the history of its service to Clay County.

Our records would indicate that we have served 362 family units that contained a total of 4,409 individuals.

The pantry has been extremely busy with all that is involved with providing food, clothing and household items.

We have an urgent need for blankets.

It appears that many of our clients are getting by with only the basic items needed just to survive.

The community continues to be generous in its support of this vital service to our people.

We are blessed to have in excess of 30 volunteers who spend several hours daily in stocking shelves, folding and sorting clothing and being prepared to accommodate our clients.

Our volunteers are faithful and serve without compensation.

Other volunteers are always solicited.

Please stop by and visit our operation daily from 9 a.m.-noon.

We ask that all requests for food assistance be received before 11:15 a.m., so that the orders can be filled out before closing time.

The continued support in every way is desired as we do have operational expenses.

Thank you Clay County for your assistance in providing this service to our citizens.

George T. Hewitt, Chairman,

Clay County Emergency Food Pantry,
