To the Editor:

This is an open letter to everyone involved in Celebrity Waiters event at Pappy's Barbecue March 11.

I can't begin to thank everyone personally, but would like to take this opportunity to thank as many as I can.

A huge thanks to Rick, Kathy and Stephanie Bell, owners and manager of Pappy's Barbecue for allowing us to use Pappy's for this event.

Pappy and his staff went above and beyond the call to help us in any way possible to get this done.

One of Pappy's waitresses (Rita) stayed over to help after working the dayshift and she was a great help in organizing our waiters.

The two your servers, Sara and Skyler, were awesome, even though all the tips they would usually be getting now went to the "celebrities."

The young men in the kitchen who had no idea they would get slammed so hard and had to try and decipher the tickets (and anyone who knows a police officer knows that it is not easy to read their writing).

I want to thank all the celebrity waiters who took time from their busy schedules to come out and wait tables: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Chief Clint McQueen, Chief Jake Bennett, Sheriff Mike Heaton, Chief Deputy Rob Gambill, Lt. Dan Jones and Major Brent Johnson: You guys are all my heroes.

I want to thank Sgt. Joe Watts for coming and taking pictures and putting out such a nice press release.

A big thanks to all the family and friends that baked all the goodies we sold on the dessert table: Loti Kates, Terry Standley, Diana Mecila, Charlotte Brush, Molly Ascheman, Darlene French, Cindy Schmitz, Tonya Hemond, Carmen Smith and I'm sure I have forgotten some because they were delivering them to Pappy's all day.

The desserts were awesome.

Thank you to Rachel Romas of Relay For Life for coming in and supplying us with "gifts" and answering questions for the participants and everything you do for this cause.

A huge thanks to my sister Molly for everything. You do too much to break it down.

Thank you to Jason Moon of The Brazil Times for two wonderful articles.

And the biggest thanks to all our family, friends and the community for coming and supporting us in our fight against cancer.

This was our first year and there were a few glitches, but everyone was so patient and generous that it was overwhelming.

We raised almost $1,700 for Relay For Life and we have only just begun to fight.

On a personal note: As a cancer survivor myself, I know how much any support is appreciated and I would like to thank my family for everything they have done and do for me.

I love you all.

Keep fighting the good fight.
