Brazil Police Department

The following accidents were reported by the Brazil Police Department:

* On Friday, March 1, at 6:03 p.m., Richard H. Ellis, 63, York, S.C., was attempting to make a tight left turn onto Craig Ave. A trailer connected to his vehicle moved off the roadway and made contact with a mailbox at the scene. His trailer was also lodged in the yard. Damages are estimated at under $1,001.

* On Sunday, March 3, at 4:55 p.m., near Lake Brazilian Estates, a pedestrian advised she was walking alongside the road close to a tree when a light blue Jeep came up and ran over her leg. She stated the Jeep ran over her foot and she fell back and the second tire ran over her leg. She stated she then got up and walked on one leg for a little ways before falling down. She stated the Jeep was going very fast. The witness said she saw the Jeep stop by Lot 10 before the driver walked over to Lot 12.

* On Tuesday, March 5, at 3:21 p.m., Abby R. Hughes, 29, Brazil, was backing out from a parking space on Harrison St. near Jackson St., and did not observe the vehicle of Brenda K. Rogers, 35, Terre Haute, approaching. Rogers advised she honked her horn at Hughes, but their vehicles collided. Damages are estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* On Wednesday, March 6, at 10:16 a.m., Savannah N. Crew, 24, Brazil, advised she was traveling west when she approached the intersection of Elm St. and Strain St. when she attempted to turn south onto Elm Street. She then lost control of her vehicle and went off the roadway, striking a wire, which was attached to a power line pole. She advised the rear end of her vehicle slid on the ice. Damages are estimated from $1,001-$2,500.

* On Wednesday, March 13, at 3:13 p.m., Mary M. Landes, 57, Brazil, was stopped at a light at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Alabama St. When the light turned green she proceeded forward before realizing that the vehicle in front of her, belonging to Ralph P. Sutherland, III, 50, Brazil, had not moved yet. Landes' vehicle then collided with Sutherland's. Damages are estimated from $1,001-$2,500.
