Leave the trash at home

To the Editor:

My husband and I have been taking advantage of the newly constructed walking path at Craig Park and I would like to commend the park board for once again utilizing limited resources to provide this community with a new option to get out and enjoy.

With that being said, I would like to ask the citizens why they believe there will always be someone around to pick up their trash they leave behind after they come out to enjoy fishing or walking in this fine park?

Our first trip, we noticed a few empty soda bottles, and then the next trip there was some other trash along the route, but last night, as I was walking on the south side of the pond, I found an area where there was empty glass beer bottles, soda bottles, empty cigarette packs, empty bait containers and a bag of trash.

How difficult would it have been to carry that trash to a receptacle and dispose of it properly?

You brought it into the park, so take it out with you.

Is this the example you wish to set for the young people of our community to follow?

This is a disrespectful habit that needs to be curtailed and I hope that someone will catch the culprits and make a community example out of them.

Once again, I appreciate what the park board is doing and the hard work that goes into this kind of a project, and I apologize to them for the disrespect shown to them by the uncaring citizens of this community.

I am willing to carry rubber gloves and a trash bag to do my part, but how about if everyone would do theirs and not leave it behind.
