Kind gesture for Vietnam Veteran

Sunday, June 23, 2013

To the Editor:

My stepfather Ralph went to Fast Max last week to get gas for the lawnmower.

After putting $20 in the gas can, he walked in to pay.

The attendant told him that he was already paid for.

Ralph told the attendant that he had not paid yet, and was told that the young man outside in the red pickup had paid for his gas.

Ralph rushed out to stop the young man and give him the money for the gas.

When he reached the pickup and tried to give this young man the money, the man just nodded toward Ralph's Vietnam Veteran hat and said, "You have done enough for me," and drove away.

To this young man: I would just like to say thank you.

It may have only been $20, but you truly warmed a Veterans heart and his families' heart that day.

It is inspiring that young people, or people in general, still have respect for our military service men and women.
