According to Brazil Police Department Chief Clint McQueen, officers arrested Tina L. Francis, 34, Brazil, after stopping near Cooper Towers following up on a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., Friday, McQueen said dispatch received a call about the vehicle, which was northwest of Cooper Towers.
Upon arrival, officers witnessed several people standing around the vehicle. The people, according to reports, were discussing a recent break-in.
During the course of finding out why all the people were in the area, some asked officers if they could leave.
As some of the people began to leave the scene, officers discovered a clear plastic bag with a white substance near the passenger side of the vehicle. The bag was found where Francis was allegedly standing.
The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
When officers were finished with the individuals at the scene, they went back to Cooper Towers to locate Francis.
Officers located Francis and discussed the situation with her. She denied the methamphetamine was hers, but an arrest was made.
When being escorted to the patrol vehicle, Francis allegedly made statements indicating she had knowledge of the bag.
No other arrests were made at the scene.
As of Sunday afternoon, Francis was still incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center on a $7,000 bond, with no 10 percent allowed.
