A Clay County man was arrested Thursday in connection to a missing juvenile.
According to a press release provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, officials received a tip July 29, about a missing 16-year-old juvenile.
During the course of the investigation, deputies spoke with Kenneth Martinez, 50, Brazil.
Initially, Martinez allegedly denied knowing of the juvenile's whereabouts.
On July 30, the sheriff's department received another tip that Martinez was allegedly with the missing juvenile the day authorities had spoken to him.
Martinez was brought in for questioning and it was determined that he had allegedly assisted the juvenile in hiding and he had allegedly rented a room at a hotel in Plainfield for the juvenile to stay.
During the interview, officials discovered Martinez knew the juvenile had allegedly been in contact with a male subject who was a truck driver and the male truck driver had allegedly planned on picking the juvenile up from the hotel to go "on the road with him."
Clay County Sheriff's Department Detectives took the case at this point and contacted the Plainfield Police Department for assistance in looking for the juvenile at the hotel.
Plainfield authorities checked the hotel, but the juvenile had already left.
Detectives then began to track the juvenile and determined they were traveling east on Interstate-70.
At that point, the sheriff's department requested assistance from the Indiana State Police to help locate the juvenile.
As detectives continued tracking the juvenile, it was determined they had traveled to Ohio.
Detectives did not have a vehicle description nor a suspect description of the male the juvenile was with.
On July 31, detectives contacted the Clark County Ohio Sheriff's Department to check the last known area the juvenile was in.
Clark County deputies eventually located the juvenile as well as the male subject in a semi-truck pulled off on an off-ramp near South Vienna, Ohio.
The subject the juvenile was traveling with was later identified as Toby Thompson, 42, Avon.
Thompson is a registered sex offender against children in Hendricks County
Clay County detectives traveled to Ohio to question Thompson in addition to bring the juvenile back to local authorities.
As an outcome of the investigation, Martinez is currently incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center and was preliminarily charged with False Informing.
As of Thursday evening, Martinez was still incarcerated on a $5,000 bond, with no 10 percent allowed.
Thompson was being held in Clark County Ohio and was preliminarily charged with Interference with Custody.
According to officials, the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed in other jurisdictions.
