It didn't have to end

To the Editor:

I've been a visitor to Clay County (Brazil, Ind.) for a number of years.

I visit many times during those years.

I'm here now in Brazil and my friend Barbara Ward has informed me the Popcorn Festival is no more. What? What you talkin' bout Willis?

A long time festival, canceled? I always enjoyed visiting Brazil when the Popcorn Festival was going on and it's been so much fun. Being terminally ill, I always try to live each day the best and most enjoyed I can and the Popcorn Festival in Brazil, Ind., Clay County, is part of that enjoyed life.

From what I can gather, there is a dispute about alcohol sales and there is not enough funding to put on the festival?

Come on Brazil. Get over it and get it done some way. Some how.

This festival is part of Brazil and Clay County. I've told friends in Cincinnati what a great festival this is and they should make the drive up.

Look, I live on one of the biggest, if not the biggest, townships in Ohio (Colerain).

In Cincinnati, and the surrounding suburbs, when problems like you're having here with the Popcorn Festival ... people step up to the plate. Yes, lack of funding has happened in Ohio. The Fourth of July Fireworks were canceled in some suburbs due to lack of money,

Well, as always, the good people of Ohio of these little towns, step up to the plate and get the funding to have the fireworks.

Whatever the trouble here is in Brazil/Clay County, you all need to get over yourselves, start working together, no name calling and find new ways to have this long-standing Popcorn Festival.

Orville (Redenbacher) and Jimmy Hoffa would be turning over in their graves if they were alive today ... well, not sure about Jimmy so much. Ha!

Hoping to visit the Popcorn Festival Brazil/Clay County Style 2013.

Cincinnati, Ohio
