Be careful on the roads

Sunday, August 18, 2013

To the Editor:

Due to recent events taking place (Aug. 14), involving a school bus, I wanted to remind everyone that the new school year has begun, and we need to watch out for the children standing out waiting for the buses to pick them up (or even when they get dropped off).

We live on State Road 340 and the posted speed limit is 40 mph.

As my son stood out in our driveway this morning, I was watching as the cars drove by.

Not one was doing the speed limit, and I believe one was flying past my child doing at least 60 mph.

And it isn't the first time I have observed this!

There is absolutely no reason to be driving this fast down that road!

So please, I beg of you, pay attention and slow down!

If you have to, leave earlier to get to your destination.

But please, don't put our children in harm's way because you're being irresponsible.

Thank you.

Lee and Lisa Wells,

Brazil
