Skatepark Committee offers thanks

To the Editor:

The Clay Community Skatepark is "up and running."

There are youth skating or biking on it daily.

At times, there are 30 skaters and bikers using the skatepark.

The youth are enjoying the skatepark, keeping it well picked up, showing respect to each other, and helping young skaters and bikers learn how to engage in these extreme sports.

This skatepark is complete because of the hard work of many businesses, foundations, individuals and the never-ending support of The Brazil Times.

The Brazil Times' newspaper and its staff have been on the job "spreading the news," about the progress of the skatepark since 2007.

Six years ago, a group of 80 youth, parents, and interested persons showed up at the First United Methodist Church for a meeting to initiate the plans to build a skatepark in Clay County.

My husband, Chuck, and I, along with hundreds of youth are forever grateful for the support The Brazil Times has shown in the construction of this skatepark.

The City of Brazil may be small, but the hearts of the citizens of Brazil are large and ready to help whether it is for a skatepark; opening our arms, hearts and pockets in good times and bad to help others in need, supporting youth sports, or standing up for a "good cause."

The Brazil Times is always there to create interest in all of the citizens of Clay County.

Thank you, The Brazil Times, for "Spreading The News," about our wonderful community daily.

Roberta Weliever,

Brazil
