Reader grateful for trainer

To the Editor:

I just want to say how much I appreciate Nicole Gonzalez' immediate care of my daughter last week at a Northview volleyball match.

Nicole was at a football game and was called to the gymnasium.

In a few short minutes, she was in the training room attending to a busted chin.

I know I'm not the only one praying that Nicole is approved by the school board to stay on as a sports trainer.

In today's world of bigger, stronger and faster athletes, it is so vital that all our children have immediate medical attention at practices as well as sporting events.

Doctors may be present at football games, but with all the freak head/neck traumas that take place in practice settings along with the stroke and heart issues of late, we definitely need a certified trainer on sight.

When injuries and/or other issues arise, minutes can mean life or death and being able to participate again or even walk again.

Surely we can find a way to keep Nicole on sight for as many days as possible.

Parents may have to have fundraisers or solicit donations to help with the expense.

As a concerned parent, I am asking the school board to find a way for funding in order to keep this well respected trainer on board for the protection of our children!

Sincerely,

Brian Albright,

Brazil
