Letter to the Editor

Some national programs must be cut

Sunday, September 22, 2013

To the Editor:

This past week, the house passed a budget bill to carry the government to the end of the year, but also included defunding "Obamacare."

This set Washington media and politicians in hysteria with accusations of "extortion," "complete chaos," "illegal," "shutting down the government," etc.

At least we have some members acknowledging we must stop some programs in order to cut expenses.

Why does one party always wait for the other party to come up with a solution to a problem and then start criticizing?

Wouldn't it move things along faster if they competed to be the first?

It seems the House comes out first, but the Senate won't bring it up nor do they have any answers.

Is the head of the Senate afraid he might be criticized?
