Letter to the Editor

Election office, board thankful for input on vote center plan

Sunday, November 17, 2013

To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the two meetings the Clay County Election Board conducted to present the preliminary Clay County Vote Center plan.

Many suggestions and comments came from those meetings, along with the other meetings and presentations we have had since the progress began in March.

I would also like to thank those we have spoken to outside of those meetings who have also helped us formulate the current plan and suggested ideas we have considered to possibly modify and update the plan before it is finalized.

Currently, we are in the middle of the 30-day public comment period before the Election Board has the ability to potentially approve a plan, which would be in effect starting with the May 6, 2014, Primary Election.

The Election Board and I would like to receive as many comments and suggestions as possible to consider before finalizing the plan.

Along with sending a formal written comment to the Election Board (609 E. National Ave., Room 211, Brazil, Ind., 47834), we encourage residents to also submit their comments via e-mail at jacobsj@claycountyin.gov.

Through the entire process, we have welcomed any and all comments regarding vote centers and look forward to receiving many more by the deadline of noon, Monday, Dec. 9.

The Election Board will meet to consider the comments at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Commissioner's Courtroom at the Clay County Courthouse.

The public is welcome to attend.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Jason Jacobs,

Clay County Election Clerk,

Brazil
