Local dog grateful for its new family

To the Editor:

Hi,

My name is Stewie and I was at the Clay County Humane Shelter from July 5 to July 27 when this nice lady came in to look for a new doggy to take home and love. I knew that if I would flash my big, brown eyes and wiggle all over, then offer my tummy to be scratched that maybe, just maybe, that nice lady just might want to get to know me better. I was right. She wanted to hold me for a while and I sure hoped she wouldn't hurt me and she didn't. Wow, that was nice. Well she said she had a cat that had been with her and her other doggy and they'd gotten along so maybe I could get along with him too.

Going to a new home was kind of scary as I didn't know what to expect but this big black kitty turned out to be really friendly and we got along great.

I'm still trying to get over my "fears" of guys and brooms and such but this nice lady is so patient and kind to me and I have found my forever home and I just hope, wish and pray that my former four-legged friends at the shelter could and do find a loving person of their own.

The big black kitty, whose name is Luke, told me that someone "dumped" him at this nice lady's home when he was barely weaned and she took him right in because she loves animals and we are so happy she does.

I'd better close this letter now, but I do have a couple more things to say. First is, hey, we are just poor, defenseless animals who didn't ask to be brought into a world of cruelty and neglect, so please have a heart and spay or neuter your pets, keep us safe and love us. And second, please go look at the doggies and kitties begging for a home that are at any shelter. We promise to love you with all our hearts, forever.

Yours in Christ

Stewie Clark
