Jim was born April 24, 1922, in Owen County, the son of the late John and Glenna (Thompson) Blubaugh. Jim was drafted in 1942 by the United States Army, where he served three years during World War II under General Patton. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Jim married Deloris M. Bixler on Oct. 31, 1942. Jim worked at GE in Bloomington where he retired in 1986 after 18 years.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Knightsville and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1405. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, working and taking care of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Roy Carson Blubaugh, Mary Alice Blubaugh, Florence Maxine Allee.
Jim is survived by his wife of 71 years Deloris Blubaugh; children, Gilbert L. Blubaugh and wife Shirley of South Carolina, Jimmy L. Blubaugh and wife Alma of Harmony, Steve K. Blubaugh and wife Dawn of South Carolina, Barbara S. Butler and husband James of Indianapolis; brother, Robert "Buss" Thompson; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; as well as many extended family and friends.
Service will be Friday, March 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Don Simmons officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Music will be provided by Mr. Steve McCullough.
