Case family recognized for property ownership
The Woodland Owners Awards Banquet was held March 29 in Clay County at St. John's Christian Church, Center Point. Forester Jack Nelson, who is pictured at right, presented the awards to the Case family. The Case family has owned the property near Bridgeton for over 100 years. They own over 300 acres of which 256 are enrolled in the Indiana Classified Forest program. The two Case brothers, George and Seba, began actively managing their forests over 40 years ago. Beginning with the Pike Lumber Company private forest land program, over the years, most of the timber land has received Timber Stand Improvement as well as several timber harvests. Most recently, foresters Perry Seitzinger and Jack Nelson have been providing the forest management assistance. The next generations of the Case family have become equally active in pursuing the management of the Case forests. At the Sycamore Trails RC&D Forestry banquet last Saturday, 11 family members were present to see the Case family receive the forestry award. Present were four generations of the Case family.
