A more than century old cannon and carriage are back together again. Earlier this week, the 1863 cannon was re-mounted on its carriage that was restored within the past year. An Amish family in Rockville was in charge of the restoration process. Upon return, courthouse officials stained the carriage and left it out on the lawn to dry before reattaching the approximately 1,230-pound cannon. It is one-half of a pair donated to Clay County by former Congressman Elias S. Holliday. The cannons are believed to have been manufactured by the Revere Copper Company.
