SCRIP gives thanks to those helping Humane Society

To the editor:

Over the past 10 years the Clay County Humane Society has offered an opportunity for "animal lovers" to support the local shelter through a fundraising effort called SCRIP. We were able to buy gift certificates from Kroger, Page's and Baesler's as well as Great Lakes Scrip at a discount and resell them at face value, the difference was our profit. Over the past 10 years we were able to raise $6,750.60 for the animals at the Clay County Humane Shelter.

To all of the members of the organization and many community people who supported us, we want to thank you. Your loyalty has been much appreciated.

The program is continuing with some changes. Clay Humane SCRIP which includes Great Lakes Scrip that has hundreds of retailers including most restaurants, Wal-mart and gas stations is still available. GLS allows you to buy gift cards from these retailers, as gifts or for personal use, which helps raise money for the animals.

And now Kroger is offering a chance for you to key your Kroger Rewards card (the one you use as you shop there) to the Clay County Humane Society. Every time you shop you will earn rewards points for the CCHS (this will not affect fuel points or coupon offerings) and then we receive a cash payment each quarter from Kroger. You can get more information about how to participate by calling Thomas Stevens, VP at 812-240-1396 or Janice Clark, Pres at 812-605-0047. We hope all animal lovers who shop at Kroger will give us a helping hand (or paw).

Again a heartfelt thank you to all those who supported Clay Humane SCRIP over the past 10 years. We couldn't have done it without you. And we hope you will continue your efforts and encourage others to help.
