Annunciation Church plans Good Friday service

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

As evening falls on Good Friday, a special Tenebrae service will take place at Annunciation Catholic Church at 8:00 PM. The service is called Tenebrae (which is the Latin word for "darkness" or "shadows") for the dark themes of Christ's passion, and because the church is lit only by candles. Tenebrae recreates the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of Jesus through Psalms and readings, as the candles are slowly extinguished, until the church is left in near darkness.
