Bark for Life event coming to Forest Park

"Some people would be surprised to know that dogs can be great caregivers for cancer patients," Carrol Evans stated. She is involved with an event called Bark for Life. "They offer unconditional love and acceptance. They are always happy to see us. They don't care what we look like or if we're moving slow when we don't feel well. We don't have to pretend to be okay or put on a brave face with our pets. They just want to be with us and are always happy when they are at our side. So, it may be a nudge on a day we feel particularly drained that gets us up and going. It may be a head laying on the pillow next to ours that sympathizes with our discomfort. It often is their special warmth that chases away the chill like no blanket can that helps the most."
